title=\"\">social listening metrics<\/a> from the Brand24 media monitoring project for the 70-day window (March 1 to May 10, 2026). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Here are the basic across all monitored channels (social media and non-social media)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>85.9M total reach<\/strong> (to visualize this, it\u2019s roughly the population of Egypt)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>~660 mentions per day<\/strong> (about one every 2 minutes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>~4,635 mentions per week<\/strong> on average<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sentiment organic <a href=\"https:\/\/brand24.com\/blog\/brand-awareness\/\">brand awareness<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It tells us AI visibility tracking has already crossed the line from &#8220;emerging topic&#8221; into &#8220;established marketing category.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The monthly trend: steady mention volume, with a slight reach drop in April<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>March was the busiest month<\/strong>, with <strong>20.8k mentions and 38.8M reach<\/strong>, driven by a few AI tool launches and audit reports coming out at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>April mention volume stayed pretty consistent (19.3k)<\/strong>, though fewer people saw those posts as the initial excitement from the March launches started to fade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And <strong>the first 10 days of May already produced 6.3k mentions<\/strong>. If people keep talking about AI visibility at this pace, May\u2019s mention volume is looking like it will be just as big as March, if not bigger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure Among the small group of charged mentions here, more than a third are negative.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Positive rate of 4.8% is the lowest of all five topics.<\/strong> Even the optimists are hedging.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>92.6% of mentions are neutral<\/strong>, which is the highest of any topic. When you see more hesitation than actual anger, it usually means people are still trying to wrap their heads around the concept.<br><br>\nFrom a <a href=\"https:\/\/brand24.com\/blog\/brand-reputation\/\" style=\"color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;\"> brand reputation<\/a> perspective, these small, divisive topics are exactly what you should keep an eye on: they\u2019re usually the ones about to \u201cblow up\u201d next.\n <\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"smallest\"><strong><strong>The smallest AI visibility topic is the most divisive<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Volume tells us what people are <em>talking<\/em> about. the data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"brand-reco\"><strong>01 ChatGPT Brand Recommendations is the closest thing to a 50\/50 fight<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pos:Neg ratio of 2.0:1<\/strong>: the lowest in the dataset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For every two excited posts about a brand getting recommended by ChatGPT, there&#8217;s one skeptical or frustrated one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is the topic where the gap between <em>&#8220;AI visibility is exciting&#8221;<\/em> and <em>&#8220;AI visibility is a grift&#8221;<\/em> is narrowest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"impact\"><strong>02 AI Search Impact: smallest topic, highest controversy<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Controversy index of 35.3%<\/strong>: the highest of any topic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And yet <strong>only 461 mentions<\/strong>: barely 2.2% of the total volume.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Positive rate of just 4.8%<\/strong>, the lowest of all five topics, which can mean that even the optimists are hesitating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"strategies\"><strong>03 AI Optimization Strategies has the largest absolute negative reach<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>15.3% controversy index<\/strong>: the lowest of any topic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>But <strong>659.4k in negative reach<\/strong>: the largest of any topic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>That reach is driven mostly by Entrepreneur&#8217;s Facebook and X posts, which together account for over <strong>26% of all negative SoV<\/strong> in the report.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A few high-reach voices can carry an entire negative narrative for a topic, even when most of the conversation around it is neutral or positive.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"measurement\"><strong>04 AI Visibility Measurement is the biggest <em>battlefield<\/em> by mention volume<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1,510 total emotionally-charged mentions<\/strong> (positive + negative combined): more than every other topic combined.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Both sides are loud<\/strong>: practitioners investing in new tools, and critics calling those same tools <em>&#8220;vanity metrics&#8221;<\/em> or <em>&#8220;lottery tickets.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is the topic where the future of the entire category is being argued in real analysis is hard to do by hand at 46k mentions across five different topics. \n<br><br>\nI used Brand24&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/brand24.com\/ai-solutions\/\" style=\"color:inherit; text-decoration:none; font-weight:bold;\"> Topic Analysis<\/a> to automatically cluster mentions into themes and track sentiment per theme.<br><br>\nThat&#8217;s how I spotted situations like #03 above, where a low overall negative rate hides a much more polarized picture inside specific topics.\n\n<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"platform\"><strong>Platform breakdown: News drives 60% of AI brand visibility mentions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When I broke the negative mentions down by platform, the most striking finding was the gap between where the <em>volume<\/em> of conversation lives and where the <em>criticism<\/em> lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#e8f4ee\"><strong><strong>News drives 60.1% of all AI visibility mentions in the dataset, but only 1% of those mentions are negative.<\/strong> The criticism is almost entirely elsewhere. <\/strong><br><br><strong>If your<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/brand24.com\/blog\/media-monitoring-tools\/\"> media monitoring<\/a> <strong>strategy only focuses on news, you could think here that the topic of AI visibility is only a polite, solution-oriented professional discussion.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I re-ranked the platforms by <em>negative sentiment share<\/em> (the share of each platform&#8217;s mentions that are openly
