With customers in over 150 countries, they offer everything from shared hosting to cloud solutions and custom website builders. 

Behind the scenes, their SEO team plays a big role in growing the brand’s online presence. In this interview, we spoke to Catarina Mendes, a Digital PR Specialist who specializes in data-driven PR campaigns aimed at increasing Hostinger’s organic visibility and authority. 

Her work involves developing content based on trends and insights, conducting strategic media outreach, and securing high-quality backlinks.

2. Use cases

At Hostinger, Brand24 is used mainly by the SEO and Brand Reputation teams. They use it to track mentions, discover backlink opportunities, and monitor campaign results. The Communications team focuses more on brand sentiment, reputation management, and competitive benchmarking.  The tool supports both reactive and proactive strategies across departments.

One key way Catarina and the SEO team use Brand24 is to support their off-site SEO efforts. With daily alerts and flexible filtering, the tool helps them spot valuable brand mentions without a backlink—opportunities they might otherwise miss using traditional SEO tools alone.

Before Brand24, tracking real-time brand mentions across different platforms was difficult, and some backlinks would go unnoticed in traditional SEO tools. Brand24 provides instant alerts, ensuring we don’t miss important mentions that could lead to links or media engagement opportunities.

Catarina starts each day by checking mentions for “Hostinger,” filtering by content type like blogs, news, and podcasts to focus on the most relevant sources. She also filters by language—usually English—to align with the team’s focus on the U.S. market.

From there, she reviews each mention individually: if it’s already linked, she logs it; if not, she checks the site’s authority in Ahrefs before deciding whether to reach out. 

On average, she uncovers 10 to 15 valuable unlinked mentions per month—many of which wouldn’t show up in other SEO tools.

Brand24 also covers a wide range of sources and scrapes more websites than many traditional tools, which is why checking it daily has become second nature. 

There have been quite a few mentions and sometimes backlinks from Digital PR campaigns that were picked up by Brand24 and not by any of our other traditional SEO tools. For Catarina, tracking competitors is less about doing so for the sake of it and more about learning from what’s working in the market.

 If a competitor’s campaign is getting a lot of buzz, she digs into the mentions to see what made it resonate and whether there’s an angle Hostinger could explore or improve on.

It’s helpful because if I rely only on manual research or Google Alerts, I don’t get the same depth or speed of insights. I end up jumping across tons of tabs, which becomes overwhelming. Brand24 helps me stay focused and dig into things more efficiently.
